SQL SERVER DBA

DBA is short for Database Administrator. The DBAs could either be in Development or in Production. A Development DBA works with developers and chips in to help to make better designs and writes SQL commands. A development DBA is another name for SQL Server DBA.

It is also necessary to note that DBA would also mean Database Administration.

Why SQL Server DBA?

With SQL Database Administration, the tasks undertaken are capacity planning, configuration, installation, migration, database design, security and troubleshooting and data recovery.

A Database administrators will have to:

• Install and upgrade the database server and tools used for applications.
• Allocate system storage space and plan for future storage requirements.
• Modify the database structure
• Enrol users and maintain system security
• Control and monitor user access
• Optimise performance of database
• Plan for backup
• Maintain data
• And few other related ones.
