DBA is short for Database Administrator. The DBAs could either be in Development or in Production. A Development DBA works with developers and chips in to help to make better designs and writes SQL commands. A development DBA is another name for SQL Server DBA.
It is also necessary to note that DBA would also mean Database Administration.
